  15. The disk activity icons flicker when the RAM disk is active.

  17. ¬†        The first icon flashes during reads.

  19. ¬†        The second icon flashes during writes
  20.  
  21. ¬†        The third icon indicates when ramBunctious is writing
  22.             recent changes to the RAM disk image file. (Write-through
  23.             takes place only if the appropriate settings are active.)

  25.             The third icon has another purpose as well; when the RAM
  26.             disk has information that has not been written to the RAM
  27.             disk image file, the write-through icon looks like this:

  31.             This means that the RAM disk is "dirty" and the next time
  32.             a write-through happens, it will update the RAM disk image
  33.             file.

  35. ¬†        The latch control lets you choose whether you want a
  36.             full-sized window with all the settings accessible, or a
  37.             shrunken window with only the disk activity icons visible:

  43. ¬†        The help icon toggles balloon help. Use balloon help to clarify
  44.             features of ramBunctious.

  46. If Ram-only volume is selected, no information on the volume is saved to disk; it's all lost when you put away the RAM disk.

  48. Disk-based volume specifies that a RAM disk image file holds the RAM disk contents. There are various options for maintaining RAM disk image files.

Write-through means that after information is written to the RAM disk, it is written "through" to the RAM disk image file. The benefit of write-through is that if your computer crashes, you won't lose information: it's written to a "real" file after it's written to the RAM disk, making it safer than other RAM disks.

  52. Save at quit means that all changes to the RAM disk are remembered; then, when the RAM disk is put away, it writes all the changes to the RAM disk image file.

  54. Ignore changes is a way to take a "snapshot" of the current RAM disk. In the future, when this RAM disk is mounted, its contents will be exactly what they were when you took the snapshot: subsequent changes will not be recorded to the RAM disk image file.

  56. You can click the Save Now button any time the RAM disk has information that has not been written through to the RAM disk image file.

  58. The Automount Volume feature lets you start up your computer with a RAM disk already mounted. It works by automatically placing an alias to the RAM disk image file in the startup items folder.
